Peer Researcher Programme
The Peer Researcher Programme is a HDRC Surrey training initiative to empower local residents with lived experience of health inequalities to become active researchers. Peer research means people with personal experience of an issue help conduct research on that topic, ensuring projects reflect real community needs.
What does the Peer Researcher Programme involve?
- Training & support: A structured programme of four half-day sessions covering research ethics, safeguarding, methods, data collection, and analysis.
- Live projects: Each participating organisation brings a research idea so peer researchers can apply their skills to real projects.
- Collaboration: Delivered in partnership with voluntary and community sector organisations tackling health inequalities.
What are the benefits of taking part?
- Peer researchers gain valuable skills and experience.
- Participants receive vouchers and travel cost reimbursement.
- Research reflects lived experience, helping shape fairer, more effective solutions.
